Flint 6K

Each registration provides clean water for one person in the developing world through World Vision + a donation to the Flint Kids Fund.May 18, 2024

Why 6k?

Six kilometers (or 3.7 miles) is the average distance a person in the developing world walks to access water that is often unsafe to drink. By participating in the Flint 6k, you are walking/running that distance so they won’t have to.

Chevy Commons

Chevy Commons, also known as the old Chevy in the Hole site is a large, 60+ acre property located on the Flint River, a few blocks from downtown. The manufacturing complex was established in the 1930’s as one of General Motors’ four major production facilities in Flint. Chevy in the Hole once contained 17 buildings; at its peak, the complex employed around 8,000 workers.

World Vision

World Vision is the largest, non-governmental provider of clean water in the developing world. Efforts include innovative projects like building and maintaining wells, solar-powered pumps, pipelines, dams and rain catchments. World Vision’s water projects also focus on improved sanitation and hygiene solutions. This includes building latrines and organizing communities to implement good habits like hand-washing or repairing wells.

Flint Kids Fund

Donating to the Flint Kids Fund is the single-most important action you can take to ensure long-term change for the better in response to our water crisis. We know the needs of Flint children exposed to lead, particularly those most vulnerable – children ages 0-8 – are ongoing and long-term.
